The opening is luminous — mango and davana with cistus labdanum, lifted by saffron, a turn of black pepper keeping the sweetness in check. The heart turns slowly: cashmere wood and cabreuva softened by caramel, violet and rose, the kind of warmth you feel before you smell it. The drydown is the hour that lingers — patchouli, musk and amber over two ouds, Trat from southeastern Thailand and Boya from India, with vanilla, holding twelve to twenty-four hours on skin, longer in memory.

Questions before you order

Davana is an aromatic plant from India. Its oil has a fruity, wine-like quality that shifts noticeably from one wearer to the next, which is why the same bottle can smell different on two people. It is rarely used as a lead note; in D'Or Davana it is one.

It opens fruity and sweet with mango and davana, and caramel in the heart adds warmth, but saffron and black pepper hold the sweetness in check and the base is patchouli, musk, amber, oud and vanilla. It is a warm fragrance rather than a dessert one.

Real agarwood from Trat in southeastern Thailand, batch-traceable. M'OUD does not use synthetic oud accords in any fragrance.

D'Or Davana, by M'OUD Switzerland. It is sometimes written Dor Davana or D Or Davana where an apostrophe cannot be used. It is a different fragrance from similarly named fragrances by other houses.
